History
- 1590 - Francis and Zacharias Janssen built the first compound microscope (multiple lenses);
- 17 th century - the compound microscope was already common in Europe, but had poor quality images, giving preference to the use of simple microscope (with one lens);
- Robert Hooke in 1665 - Published the book “Micrographia” with results of his research, obtained through a improved compound microscope;
- Leeuwenhoek in 1668- Learned to polish lenses allowing the construction of it first microscope (based on the book of Hooke). But this microscope only allowed to amplify between 20-30 times.Construct a simple optical microscope (with a lens) allowing an amplification of 200 times more. This allowed him to be a pioneer in the observation of different species;
